Tip of the Week
Lost Luggage – Part 1
Travel challenges can put a damper on anyone’s vacation plans and lost luggage is all too often the cause of your annoyance. According to the Department of Transportation, two million bags were lost, damaged, pilfered or delayed during 2010. Here’s a tip to help reduce the chance of your luggage joining the “never been seen again” statistic on your next trip.
It’s almost a given that if you fly often, one day you may find yourself out of favor with the travel gods and goddesses and you will arrive at your destination without your luggage.
One way to lessen the frustration if you find yourself at the lost-luggage counter screaming at the nonchalant agent. Have a record of what you packed. Since there’s no way you are going to remember everything you crammed into your bag, then you’d better take some pictures. Grab your cell phone or digital camera and take a few shots as you add your vacation possessions to your suitcase. Lastly, take a photo of your luggage. Many bags look alike because they are alike. You scored the same great deal at Costco or Target as some other traveler. This person may accidently grab your bag only to discover later that it’s the wrong one. When it gets returned, (fingers crossed) you’ll want to be sure everything you packed is still inside.
Another positive of taking a picture – you’ll be able to take a stroll down memory lane when you pull out the photos and look longingly at all the great clothes and shoes you used to own.
